Youth Minister

Phillip Hogan

I don't think i'm in Kansas anymore!  Sooners and Cowboys and Tigers, oh my!  Actually, if there is such a place called Oz on earth, I think it's right here in Oklahoma!  There are just so many amazing people here, and some of the best friends I have ever had are right here where the wind comes sweeping down the plains!  It may have taken me a while to get here, but "sooner" or later everyone finds it to be "home"!

Even before I moved here, i went to rehab.  Now before you fall over in shock, I know what you're thinking!  Actually, "rehab" was a youth mission project in Texas where we rebuilt houses for needy people!  It was an awesome time getting to know my new students here.  I actually moved into my house here after that on July 6, 2007.  Then, I started at the church on July 8, 2007, and went to children's camp on July 9-11!!!! So as you can tell it was quite a beginning!

Since then, our student ministry has grown a lot.  We have an amazing group of students, and I love them all!  Most of them are taller than I am, but that's ok...  I know where they live!

My greatest passion is to teach and train students to live passionately for Jesus.  To me, nothing is more rewarding than when a student finally "gets it", gives their lives to Christ, and then begins a ministry of their own.  It is just so awesome to see how God can transform lives and uses them in ways we could never even dream about!

Right now i am currently reading the book of 2 Chronicles and Psalms.  I know that seems a little bit of an odd combination, but this is where God has me camped at right now.

I also just finished a great book by Brent and Deanna Higgins called "I Would Die For You".  It's a book that chronicles the life of their son BJ, who had a passion to live for Jesus.  He was one of the most mature Christian students this world has seen to this point. He was only 15 years old, but he was one who "got it".  His passion was to tell anyone who would listen about his amazing God!  His life was cut short after contracting a fatal disease while on mission to Peru the summer before his 16th birthday.  But even though he may have passed away physically, he is more alive today than ever!  And his testimony and passion still burns to challenge even the most dedicated Christian to do more for Christ.  I know it has challenged me!  If you get the chance, you need to read this book!

I love Jesus with all my heart, and all I want is for others to know this same Jesus that I serve.  If you want to talk or if you have questions or if you just want to hang out, just let me know!  I'm available any time!  I love you guys!
