This is our 13th year of putting together boxes of goodies for Operation Christmas Child! This ministry sends shoe boxes full of Christmas gifts to children around the world. For many of these children, this may be the only Christmas present they ever receive. In addition to the gifts, the plan of salvation is included in each box.
There are three ways you may participate: 1) Make up a shoe box yourself. 2) Donate items to be used in boxes that the church will assemble. 3) Donate money to be used for postage ($7 per box). This year we are collecting Items for students that are ages 10-14. Items for the boxes should include: school supplies, hygiene items (toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap bars, wash cloths, combs, etc.), small tote bags, calculator, plastic cups, notebooks, handkerchief, batteries, flashlight, scissors, hair bands, pencil sharpeners, and things like these. There are examples of these items posted on the bulletin board by Darla's office. Things NOT to pack are liquids, chocolate, and war toys.
The deadline to bring your boxes is November 6!!! Hurry! Will you take time to help out a needy child for Christmas?
Over the last 12 years, we have sent over 500 shoeboxes to needy children.
Our goal this year is 120 boxes for 120 changed lives!
Let's keep sending the good news around the world!!!
If you have any questions, please contact Darla or Maria.
Exercise your right to vote!!!! The polls will be open all day on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2016. Make your vote count!!!!!!!!
Our church is going on a mission trip to Panama in November 2016.
The total cost of the trip is $1,850 (with some exclusions).
The $1,850 cost includes: Airfare, food (except lunch), lodging, interpreter, supplies we may need, and any transportation fees within the country. This does NOT include any souvenirs or extra snacks you wish to purchase. It also does not include the cost of your passport or any medical shots that may be required.
There is a $200 deposit due on June 15, 2016. This reserves your ticket and lodging.
Another $500 toward the trip will be due in early Fall 2016. This will purchase your ticket and finalize lodging.
The balance of $1,150 will be due 2 weeks before the trip (November 2016).
Mission Trip Training Sessions will be required in order to go to Panama.
You must be at least 18 years old or be accompanied by at least one parent to be eligible to go.
All participants must adhere to the Southern Baptist Faith and Message.
You will need to be able to clearly share your testimony, learn some essential Spanish phrases, and learn about the culture of Panama. You will be equipped to do the work God has called you to do during the required training sessions.
You will need a current U.S. passport and any required medical shots in order to travel out of the United States. Apply as soon as possible for your passport (if you don't already have one. Passports sometimes take several weeks to process). The cost for a passport is $110. If you would prefer a passport card, it is $30.
You can print a passport application online. Applications are located online by copying and pasting the following link into your browser:
Make sure you choose the right form for your particular application!
You will also need an original birth certificate to send in with your passport application.
You will also need to have a passport photo made to send in with your application. Several local businesses offer passport photo services. Just type in "passport photo Shawnee, OK" into your browser and choose a location near you. Costs for a passport photo start around $8 and up, depending on where you choose to have them made.
There is an information sheet located on the counter by Darla's office.
We will tailor our trip according to the gifts and talents of our particular group that is going. This may include, but is not limited to: prayer walking, door-to-door evangelism, women's ministry, back yard Bible clubs, VBS, painting, visiting schools, construction, or anything else the Lord allows us to do.
We urge you to pray and see if God is calling you to share the gospel with those in Panama. Even if you are not called to go, you might be called to help support this mission by giving and praying for those who go!
For more information, please contact Darla.
